This blurb really gets to the heart of the book. And while there’s plenty of flinching in the story (Phillip’s a nervous kid), I’m seriously quite gratified to hear that it’s not on my end. I know from experience that Morgan knows how to critique fiction—we were in the same tiny Class of ‘07 at the New School’s Writing for Children MFA program. I was a fan of hers before it was cool and was not at all surprised when her debut, Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour, went on to great success and was named a 2011 ALA Top Ten Best Fiction for Young Adults book.
