Three more fantastic blurbs about Apocalypse!
“A powerful, thoughtful story about the wonders of first love and a young man’s quest to find a truth he can believe and live for. Lucas Klauss has written with courage about love and faith.” — Francisco X. Stork, author of Marcelo in the Real World
This blurb was immensely flattering because I’m a big fan of Stork’s YA novels, Marcelo in the Real World and The Last Summer of the Death Warriors. In fact, his willingness to wrestle with big issues like faith and his ability to do so engagingly really inspired me when I was writing Apocalypse. Irises, his next YA, sounds great too. Thank you, Francisco!
“Curious, funny, and heartfelt.” — Albert Borris, author of Crash Into Me
I think Albert’s blurb really captures the essence of the book—or the essence I was aiming for, anyway. “Curious” is particularly apt. (“Funny” you can determine for yourself.) His YA novel, Crash Into Me, got a great review in School Library Journal, which called it “a gripping addition to YA collections,” and Ellen Hopkins, popular author of Crank and many other books, called it “an exceptional first novel.” Thank you, Albert!
“A funny, thought-provoking look at the friends you lose and the friends you keep, the girls you get and the girls who get away, and the big questions you ask, even when they don’t have answers.” — Leila Sales, author of Mostly Good Girls and Past Perfect
In addition to being an author, Leila is an accomplished humor writer (I really liked this piece she wrote for the Hairpin earlier this year), so hearing that she thought Apocalypse was funny was pretty gratifying. The paperback of Mostly Good Girls came out today and her new YA novel, Past Perfect, comes out October 4th. It’s about a recently broken up teen couple who end up working together at a colonial reenactment village over the summer, which is a ridiculously good premise. Thank you, Leila!
Tomorrow, more awesome blurbage.
